Sea of Thieves - Season 6 - Ancient Gold Fortress
My main focus for Season 6 was Ancient Gold Fortress, the overgrown sea fort. I was given the original, pristine and operational fort environment created by another artist and told to redress it so that it fit into that part of the game world and that it looked like it had been long abandoned with nature slowly reclaiming the structure. This became the basis of the second overgrown fort, Old Brinestone Fortress, which was then handled by another artist while I moved onto polish and support work for all Sea Fort environments.
It was a great exercise in creative re-use and kitbashing of assets for an interior man-made space, which we haven't had a lot of yet in Sea of Thieves.
Every environment in Sea of Thieves is the result of a huge collaborative effort from the Rare team, so much of the credit for the individual assets in these scenes goes out to my wonderful and talented colleagues.
